Twelve Yoga Poses I do Every Day

I’m SO CLOSE to being able to say I’ve recovered from the herniated disk and sciatica that have been plaguing me for the past 5 months! I truly didn’t think it was ever going to heal, but the funny thing with herniated disks, they often just heal themselves. It’s the weirdest thing, and it’s exactly what happened. It could have also been all the work I have been doing with a massage therapist and the exercises he’s given me each week to work on. If you think getting a massage weekly sounds amazing, it was, but not the way you’re thinking. These massages were anything but relaxing, in fact one time we had to stop and change course because I couldn’t handle the pain. But with each session, I had less pain for the following week until then next session and he was able to identify what needed to be worked on to help with healing. Which is more than I can say from the physical therapist I was seeing (but that’s a story for another day). The end goal has been for me to be able to start running again and get back into yoga. This week I can say that I successfully ran a few miles (VERY SLOWLY) and I’m able to do all my favourite yoga poses (with a few slight modifications). WOO HOO.

The poses I’ve illustrated here are my go to’s every night before bed. I do a really easy flow routine to help stretch out my body as well as calm me down before bed. It’s something I’ve done for a few years now and it’s definitely made a difference in how my body feels (especially in the am, when I would wake up stiff or sore). You can do them in any order, but below is a flow I like that’s easy to move through. Try it out and let me know what you think.
