Series: What I read in November

November was a busy month and I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to read, but I did manage to knock off four from my reading list. Check out what I read below. ** Disclosure: I am an affiliate of Bookshop.org where your purchases support local bookstores. The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner

Taking place in both present day and 18th Century London, the Lost Apothecary is about an apothecary that catered to potions used on oppressive men. Women secretly share amongst themselves what Nella is capable of and how she can help if you need to free yourself from a man in your life. Murders that have gone unsolved for two centuries were at the hand of Nella. Then, an aspiring historian, Caroline, takes a trip to London in present day and discovers a clue about the apothecary and searches to uncover what’s been hidden for so long. It’s an exciting tale of drama, suspense, secrets, vengeance and unexpected twists. Linking the past to today.

The Invisible Life of Addie Larue by V.E. Schwab

What if you were granted a life of immortality, but the catch was no one would ever remember you? That is the story of Addie. Addie wanted nothing more than to escape a pre set marriage and to live our her life in 1714 France. But, be careful what you wish for and how you wish for it! She was granted her wish, but along with it came a small caveat - no one would ever remember her. As soon as a door was shut or a day ended, it was like she never met any of the people she interacted with. For over 300 years, Addie figures out how to make her mark without physically making her mark. She finds ways to inspire and act to show slivers of her being until one day she meets someone who does remember her. How? Why? As she sets out to uncover these questions it will change her life forever.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

A magazine worthy wedding on a remote (possibly haunted) island off the coast of Ireland. What could possibly go wrong? A wonderful mystery that intertwines all the characters so wonderfully you’ll be guessing who did it until the very end. The bride? The groom? Bride’s sister? Groom’s friends? All have secrets they are hiding and when the storm hits the island, everything comes to a head.

The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

What if you knew the date you were going to die? Would it change how you lived your life? The Immortalists follows the lives of four siblings who visit a fortune teller at a young age who tells them each the date they will die. The book then follows each sibling throughout their life and ultimately their death. Do they die on their date because they knew it was the day they were going to die? Did knowing the date change how they lived their lives? Did it consume and paralyze them from living? Each sibling responds differently to the news and begs the question is it destiny or is it he choices we make?

Let me know what you think! Have you read any of these? What’s on your reading list?
