Positive Changes

Things have been crazier than normal for me these past two weeks, but in a good way. I’m not complaining. If you’re current on reading my posts, you know I signed up to be a Stella & Dot Jewelry stylist. I can’t tell you how excited I am to do this. I’m slowly putting myself out there, doing the things I love. You really are happiest when you are doing things you enjoy. I went to my first stylist meeting this past Monday and it was so fun. I felt like I fit in from the moment I walked thru the door. All the girls love jewelry as much as I do and are so supportive in how to get your business going.  I’ll be attending a bootcamp training on Saturday and I’m looking forward to it.

Another positive change I’m making is in my health. A few weeks back I entered a contest to win a spot in a Group Health Coaching series by these two lovely ladies. Who would have thought I would win, but I did. It’s a 3 month program helping you focus on healthier eating and your relationship with food. We have conference calls every other week with a challenge to do the two weeks in between calls. The calls are so inspirational and information. We’ve had two so far and I love them. It’s really causing me to take pause and look at how I eat, why I eat and how to get healthy. I’m already seeing changes in how I approach food and have enjoyed cooking all the new recipes. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ve seen my food posts. It’s really yummy stuff. You don’t count calories or track you food. Simply incorporate a new learning each week. I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going over the next 3 months. If you’re looking to try some great recipes, check out Lisa’s Blog and Lacy’s Blog. I’ve tried a bunch already and they are fabulous.

Remix #4

My anthro dress re-mixed one more time. It really is one of my most versatile pieces. I wore this for my Stella & Dot hostess party. You’ll notice I’m not wearing Stella & Dot in these pictures. That’s because they were taken prior to the trunk show. Once the show started though, I had on at least 7 different pieces at any given time. I was mixing and matching all night long. I love their jewelry so much, I signed on to be a stylist for them (you should have seen the arm parties I had goin’ on!). You know you really believe in a product when you want to work for them. Accessories are my thing, so what better way to spend my free time than helping others accessorize to look their best. Email me up if you would like me to host a show for you and your friends. Baby, It's cold outside

Remember last week when I posted it was 3 degrees? Well, it got worse. It was -11 the next day and didn’t warm up much this past weekend either. To old man winter I say LAYER UP!  This is the only way to survive this type of weather. I always start with wool tights and a tank under everything. Throw on a button down, a sweater and a faux fur vest and you’re good to go. You’ll be toasty all day long. Boots are also a necessity. I actually find I’m warmer in tights and boots with a skirt than just pants. Maybe it’s because I don’t like tights under my pants- too much bulk. Now, if only I could wear a hat to work. Anytime I have a hat on, I’m warm. It’s true what they say, you loose most of your body heat through your head. How do you stay warm when the temperature is frigid?

Dress + Pant Combo

I’ve always been a big fan of wearing dresses over pants. I think it started in grade school when it was done of out necessity.  I walked to school (a whole 4 blocks) and in the winter, when it was blustery cold, my mom would send me off with jeans on under my dresses. It was practical, not stylish. Later in life, I brought it back into my repetoire. I often wear wrap dresses or knit dresses over my jeans or pants. I really don’t care if it’s in or not. I just like they way it looks. Is there something you wear just because you love it, not because it’s in style or the trendy thing of the moment?

New Year’s Eve was low key for us this year. We spent the evening at a house party hosted by great friends. There were good drinks, yummy food and homemade snickers bars made by yours truly-more on that tomorrow, but just warning you…they are addictive! Even though it was a more casual affair, I wanted to incorporate some sparkle. Cue my sequin blazer. I love this blazer. It has ruched arms and fits to a tee. I paired it with one of my husbands white button downs. On a sidenote-it donned on me that I don’t own a white button down, many other colors, but not white! how is that possible? must rectify that this week!) I love the fact that the shirt is a take on a tuxedo shirt. Makes the outfit a bit more masculine against all the sparkles. To finish the look off, I threw on some black jewelry and dark denim.

Happy 2012 to you all! How did you ring in the new year?
