Cleanse recap
Well. I did it. I successfully completed the Clean Cleanse 21 day program. And it was amazing. I have to admit, now that I’ve been off of it for one week now, I kind of miss it.  I experimented with the shakes, found my favorite ones - “cinnamon rolls for breakfast” anyone?!? -  and kicked my sugar habit. Seriously. I can’t begin to rave enough about this cleanse.
The first few days were tough, I’m not going to lie, but once I got past day 3, it was easy. The hardest part for me was when I had friends who invited me to happy hour or a party and I had to drink water. That wasn’t hard, it was the fact that I had to explain why I was only drinking water. Then the conversation would turn to why I was doing this, what I hoped to gain, that I was plain crazy to do this. You get the idea. But I stuck to it.  I felt too good not to.  For the first time in a long time, I actually felt good.
The cleanse had the following effects on me:
Sleep. I haven’t had a decent sleep in I don’t know how long. I’d wake up in the middle of the night and lay staring at the ceiling for sometimes two hours- for no reason. Now, I’m sleeping soundly and waking up refreshed.
Energy. It was typical for me to hit a major energy slump in the middle of the day. My team at work can tell you how I hit the candy bowl hard around 3. EVERY DAY!  But on the cleanse, I didn’t need anything. I had stable energy the whole day
Glowing skin. Friends noticed and commented. I didn’t have dry, flaky spots. Just clean, clear skin.
Clear head. I think and focus better. Prior to cleansing, there were times when I couldn’t focus or concentrate to save my life. Really, it was getting annoying. Now that’s gone.
Leaner. I didn’t weigh myself at the beginning, but my clothes are looser and I feel lighter. Who doesn’t like that?
I could go on and on- you’d think they paid me to say this (I wish!). Bottom line, I loved this cleanse. I’ve even been trying to get my parents to do it. If you want to get your eating habits back in line, make a change in your diet or just get yourself healthy, try this cleanse . You won’t be sorry.
*Clean program did not supply any of their products to me. All opinions and experiences are my own.

Mixed berry smoothie
Day 2 and this is my life for the next 20 days. Two smoothies a day with a clean meal sandwiched in the middle for lunch. Am I hungry? Nope! With smoothies like pumpkin pie, malted “milk” shake,  and peach/apple cobbler I’m getting my fill. Clean has an amazing online community that has support rooms, recipes, “coaches”, journaling areas, you name it. They’ve provided everything you need to support you through your cleanse and beyond.
So how am I doing today? Definitely feeling it. I started to get sluggish around 5:30 and if I weren’t typing this right now, I think I would be passed out in bed. Overall, I’d say I’m still feeling good- minus the slight headache. I’m sure that’s the sugar withdrawl. I already feel lighter, but this isn’t about losing weight, it’s about getting back to clean eating and detoxing my body of all the crap I’ve indulged in for the past 3 months.
The only thing I’m finding somewhat difficult right now is making my lunch. Because I am cooking a clean meal and want it to be of substance (it is my only “meal” of the day), I tend to cook when I get home from work, which makes me want to eat that instead of the smoothie I also make when I get home. Not good. I’m hoping this will go away after the next few days.
The key to success with the cleanse as well as post cleanse is planning. You need to have fresh ingredients on hand at all times. Whipping something up is easy when you have the right food. I’m convinced this is one of the main reasons I veered from my otherwise healthy diet. Lack of planning and consistent grocery shopping will lead to bad decisions and laziness. Hopefully this will get me back on track with that as well.
 See ya tomorrow!

Time for change
If you follow me on  instagram , you know it’s been one crazy summer. I will admit I’ve  fallen off the wago n jumped off a high speed train when it comes to my health and well being. I take full responsibility for my actions, regardless of how much fun they may have been in the moment (I mean really- just look at all that fried food above). This past summer was one stress after another and clearly I’ve learned that I resort to comfort foods in times of stress. Who knew finding your new dream home could do this to a person? The moving, staging the old house, selling the old house, paying two mortgages for an unknown time frame, wanting to get the new house in perfect condition like the old one was…it’s exhausting and did I mention stressful? You know you’ve hit rock bottom when you are eating Costco pizza multiple times a week. In my defense, it was the easiest and quickest food I wanted after working all day and then coming home to work more on BOTH houses. But enough with the excuses. It’s time to get back to my old habits and into my skinny jeans!
Today was day one of my 21 day  CLEAN cleanse  and I can’t tell you how excited I am to be doing this. After the most gluttonous weekend I have ever experienced (seriously, how are you not following me on  instagram  yet from that comment alone?), I can honestly say it felt good to start the day eaing clean. I’ve known lots of people who’ve done this cleanse and they loved it. Gwyneth swears by it and god knows I adore her, so if it’s good enough for her, it’s good enough for me. So here I am. Just about done with day one and I feel great! Mind you I am only 13 hours in (who’s counting?) and I did have quite a binge weekend. We’ll see how I’m feeling tomorrow.
Let’s do this together shall we? I’ll post an update each day with how i’m doing and you tell me what a great job I’m doing to keep me going. Deal?
