Muse Monday - Dad

me (age 4) and my dad

Today’s post is dedicated to my Dad. He’s a fan of the simpler and finer things in life. Case in point- if he’s going to take a vacation, it’s going to be first class all the way. What’s the point of going if you’re not going to be pampered? Right now, he’s plotting a cruise to the Panama Canal (to my mother’s dismay).  Growing up he taught me how to swim, swing a golf club, throw a softball and master my advanced math classes (I guess his masters in Math helped). In High School I would call him (he lived in Newport, RI and commuted home on the weekends) for help with all my math homework and he would always be able to coach me thru to the right solution. You could say I was a Daddy’s girl. My mom never stood a chance against the two of us when we set our mind’s to something…except the swimming pool we still covet to this day. We tried for years to convince her it was the perfect thing to put in our backyard. No luck. Happy Father’s Day dad!!  You are the greatest!! XOXO

Muse Monday - Two Years

Two years ago today I said “I do” to the love of my life. It was an intimate affair with our closest friends and family. We got married on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Pismo Beach, California and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.  I can’t believe two years have already flown by. They’ve been wonderful and I’m looking forward to many more.

Happy Anniversary Ramesh! Love you! XO

Muse Monday - For Mom

This post is dedicated to my mom. I spent the day with her yesterday, brunching and hanging out. It’s amazing looking back over the years, all the things we have shared together. She has taught me more things than I can count {always be yourself, you can do anything you put your mind to, watch those expenses, how to make a perfect cheesecake, tile a floor, I could go on and on}. I wouldn’t have accomplished all the things I have so far if not for her support and teaching. Who else would I be able to call at 2am to get a bat out of my bedroom {True story…I was terrified} or come over and help me fix a broken toilet. She’s always been there for me and I know she always will be. Even when I’m too busy to catch my breath, she reminds me to check in with her and let her know “I’m still alive”.  So this one is for you mom! You’re the best! XOXO

Muse Monday - Pastels

In need of a birthday card for my girlfriend Kelly, I found my inspiration today on pinterest via Nichole Heady’s boards. I’ve been a fan of Nichole for almost two years now, from the moment I first stumbled upon Papertrey Ink. Papertrey Ink is the online store I get the majority of my stamping supplies from-their products rock! If you’re crafty and looking for inspiration, check her out. Her blog is full of wonderful tutorials, techniques and ideas. Each month she posts a countdown to the new products they will release on the 15th and on the 25th of each month she hosts a blog hop. It’s truly a fantastic place to stop if you are in need of some creative ideas.

Muse Monday {Special Delivery}

Today’s Muse Monday {I know, it’s Tuesday, but I did complete the card on Monday!} is brought to you by the colors purple and gold. I found this fantastic gold and purple paper at Paper-Source and just knew I needed to incorporate it into one of my cards. After searching high and low on pinterest, I found the perfect muse- Sea of Shoes.  Jane produces a blog that is beyond inspiring. She is extremely creative with her personal style as well as the settings she creates. I also found inspiration in the form of home decor. You truly can find anything on pinterest. Based on my pins, my friend Hadley actually sent me a note saying he was expecting my next card to be inspired by purple and gold. You can learn a lot about a person by what they pin!

This card is for my sister-in-law. She just had the first granddaughter in our family. Up until now, it’s been all boys, so grandma is especially happy! Her name is Divya—which is one of my favorites. To say this girl is going to be spoiled is an understatement, as you can already tell by the divalicious card I’ve made. I hope she likes it! I can’t wait to meet her.

Muse Monday- The Glamourai

One of the first (and my personal fave) fashion blogs I started following was The Glamourai. Kelly’s eye for style is simply amazing. This past year she has collaborated with more than a few fabulous designers. Today’s inspiration is from her collaboration with Kelly Wearstler. A few months ago, The Glamourai was whisked off to Malibu to do a shoot for Kelly in her home. I just about died when I saw the pictures. They are stunning. Brilliant really. I fell in love with the picture that is my muse today. You can see more from the shoot here, here and here. What did I tell you?!? STUNNING.

When I saw this blouse, the color combination was what caught my eye. I love how Kelly has coral lips with the turquoise and black blouse. The combination is perfect. I set out to recreate it, quite literally. To make the background look more  like the blouse, I was able to use my Modern basics stamp set with a few topic markers to give depth to the colors. I think it turned out beautifully. What do you think?

Muse Monday

I know. It’s not Monday. But that’s how this week has gone. I think the real reason I’m behind is I got addicted to watching Downton Abbey. Don’t watch it? You should. My husband and I started it on Sunday. One episode soon turned into a Sunday marathon. Then Monday came along. I was faced with the choice between blogging or having a home cooked meal and a few episodes of Downton Abbey. You can guess what won out. So here I am, writing this on Tuesday for you to read Wednesday.

My inspiration today is Anne Sage from The City Sage and myself (never thought I’d be my own muse). I saw her outfit post today- polka dot tights and leopard shoes- and it reminded me how much I LOVE leopard and polka dots together. It’s one of my favorite combos. One I thought would make a perfect “Miss You” Card.  A co-worker of mine is leaving Target after 16 years (her whole career). She decided she needed to make a change and this was the year it was going to happen. It’s a brave thing to follow your heart. Something I struggle with everyday. Take a risk and do something you’re passionate about or keep that as a hobby and stick to your 9 to 5 gig. What would you do?
