There's a story that the Negroni was born in Florence in 1919, when a count asked his bartender to strengthen his Americano by swapping the soda for gin. Whether or not that's true, the drink that came out of it has outlived nearly everything else on the menu — three ingredients, equal parts, no apologies.
I drew it the way it actually looks on a bar: a heavy rocks glass, that unmistakable red, one wide slice of orange doing all the work. The deep teal background is there so the drink stays the loudest thing in the frame.
